El Salvador’s bold bet on Bitcoin continues to yield impressive returns as the digital currency surged past $105,000 this Sunday morning. According to real-time market data, the nation’s Bitcoin holdings—now totaling 6,181 coins—have reached a value of $652.3 million, solidifying the country’s position as a global pioneer in Bitcoin adoption.
President Nayib Bukele’s government has maintained a consistent strategy of acquiring one Bitcoin per day since 2022. This long-term approach has generated an estimated return of 122% on total purchases, with 913 coins acquired under the one-a-day policy alone yielding a 100% return.
The price rally comes amid renewed optimism in global financial markets. The U.S. Consumer Price Index (CPI) for April came in below expectations, easing pressure on the Federal Reserve’s monetary tightening policies. This, coupled with increasing institutional interest in digital assets, has contributed to Bitcoin’s upward momentum.
In a landmark move for the crypto industry, Coinbase (NASDAQ: COIN) was officially added to the S&P 500 index, becoming the first cryptocurrency-native company to enter the elite group. This inclusion has fueled further confidence in the digital asset space.
Moreover, major financial players such as Goldman Sachs have expanded their Bitcoin exposure. The investment bank now holds over 30.8 million shares of BlackRock’s IBIT ETF—valued at $1.4 billion—along with positions in additional spot Bitcoin ETFs, including those by Fidelity. These funds have experienced over $4.5 billion in net inflows over the last 18 trading days, with total assets surpassing $121 billion.

The rise in institutional investments has significantly reduced the circulating supply of Bitcoin, further pushing its price upward. As a result, more global companies are beginning to consider Bitcoin as a core strategic asset.
El Salvador’s continued confidence in Bitcoin—bolstered by strategic accumulation and favorable macroeconomic shifts—reinforces its leadership in crypto-financial innovation. As traditional and digital finance converge, the country’s forward-thinking approach remains under global observation.
