Prominent Republican lawmakers from the United States have publicly commended El Salvador’s achievements in public security and health, recognizing the country as a model for Central America and beyond. During an interview aired on El Salvador’s Channel 10, Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna, President of the El Salvador Caucus, was joined by Tennessee Congressman Andy Ogles and Texas Congressman Vicente González, as they praised the leadership of Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele.
“No one can deny El Salvador’s success in security and health,” said Congressman González. “Those who want to criticize, can criticize, but look at the numbers — it has been a great improvement for the country.”

Congresswoman Luna echoed this sentiment, highlighting the country’s transformation under Bukele’s leadership. “He has done something important for security in the region. We are pleased with his work and his leadership,” she stated. “It is not easy, but President Nayib Bukele has done an impressive job in security.”
The lawmakers also emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations. Congressman Ogles noted the interest of former U.S. President Donald Trump in creating trade opportunities. “There is a lot of work ahead, but as long as we make this effort together, we can achieve it.”
The congressmen expressed support for zero-tariff trade agreements with El Salvador, mirroring those in place with Mexico. “Everything is based on security; this will attract more business and more tourism to El Salvador,” Ogles said, emphasizing the link between public safety and economic growth.
In addition, they recognized the diplomatic work of El Salvador’s ambassador in Washington. Congressman González remarked, “A very good relationship has been established. It is important to maintain constant dialogue between Washington and El Salvador.”
The visiting delegation affirmed that El Salvador’s recent progress has reduced the incentive for youth emigration. “El Salvador is on a positive trajectory; people are very happy. Now young people no longer want to emigrate,” González concluded.
This visit and the public statements from U.S. lawmakers further solidify El Salvador’s growing international recognition as a leader in regional security and institutional reform.
