President Bukele Welcomes U.S. Congressional Delegation to El Salvador.

President Nayib Bukele met with a bipartisan delegation from the U.S. Congressional El Salvador Caucus this week, reinforcing the growing partnership between El Salvador and the United States on issues of security, governance, and regional cooperation.

The delegation included Representatives Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL), Matt Gaetz (R-FL), Vicente González (D-TX), Andy Ogles (R-TN), and political strategist Alex Bruesewitz. The group toured the Terrorism Confinement Center (CECOT), El Salvador’s maximum-security prison designed to house gang-affiliated inmates, and held discussions with President Bukele on the country’s ongoing security reforms.

“It was an honor meeting with @nayibbukele,” Rep. Luna posted on social media. “Thank you for opening up your wonderful country and CECOT to our bipartisan delegation.”

The visit underscores the Caucus’s continued support for President Bukele’s security strategy, which has led to a significant reduction in crime rates and positioned El Salvador as a regional leader in public safety. The Congressional El Salvador Caucus, founded in July 2024 by Rep. Gaetz and co-chaired by Rep. Luna and Rep. González, aims to strengthen U.S.-El Salvador relations through collaboration on trade, immigration, and security initiatives.

During the visit, the delegation acknowledged the effectiveness of El Salvador’s approach to combating organized crime, noting its potential as a model for other nations facing similar challenges. The discussions also highlighted opportunities for increased economic cooperation and investment between the two countries.

This meeting marks a significant step in deepening the bilateral relationship, with both nations expressing a commitment to continued collaboration on shared priorities.
