El Salvador Reduces Bureaucracy with 1,258 Simplified Procedures.

In a continued effort to modernize government services, 27 public institutions in El Salvador are actively complying with the national policy of simplifying and eliminating unnecessary procedural requirements, according to the Office for Regulatory Improvement (OMR).

Mariana Gómez, director of the OMR, confirmed that a total of 1,258 procedures have been officially registered in the National Registry of Procedures (RNT), a centralized platform designed to enhance efficiency in public administration. «Twenty-seven institutions are complying with the simplification and elimination of unnecessary procedural requirements, reaching a total of 1,258 procedures registered in the RNT,» Gómez stated via the X social media platform.

Key government agencies participating in this initiative include the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation (MOPT), Ministry of Health (MINSAL), Ministry of Education (MINED), Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MARN), National Registry Center (CNR), Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG), and the Salvadoran Social Security Institute (ISSS), among others.

Registered procedures in the RNT are now free of redundant requirements and feature reduced response times by an average of 40%, allowing citizens and businesses to access public services more efficiently. The OMR highlights that this reform promotes legal certainty, procedural simplicity, and transparency, while also reducing opportunities for corruption.

The improvements are expected to boost El Salvador’s business and investment climate, by offering greater institutional clarity and user-friendly processes.

All official procedures and their components must be registered in the RNT to be valid. Citizens and investors can access complete information — including requirements, completion methods (online or in person), costs, and deadlines — through the Simejora digital platform at https://simejora.omr.gob.sv.

This milestone reflects the government’s commitment to modern governance, efficient public service delivery, and the ongoing digital transformation of El Salvador’s institutions.
