El Salvador Explores New Economic Opportunities with U.S. in Food, Pharmaceuticals, and Textile Sectors.

In a continued effort to strengthen economic relations between El Salvador and the United States, Ambassador Milena Mayorga and Minister of Economy María Luisa Hayem met with officials from the U.S. Department of Commerce to explore new avenues of cooperation. The discussions focused on key sectors including food, beverages, pharmaceuticals, and textiles—areas with significant potential for bilateral trade expansion.

The meeting follows President Nayib Bukele’s recent visit to Washington, reinforcing the commitment of both nations to deepen economic and commercial ties. Ambassador Mayorga emphasized the importance of this dialogue, noting the strategic value of the United States as El Salvador’s principal trading partner.

“We are working to strengthen our commercial ties through targeted collaboration in industries that are essential to both economies,” stated Ambassador Mayorga. “This engagement reflects our commitment to ensuring sustainable growth and greater market access for Salvadoran products.”

Minister Hayem also highlighted the importance of identifying new investment opportunities and expanding El Salvador’s export capacity through innovation and collaboration with international partners. The dialogue with the U.S. Department of Commerce is part of a broader economic diplomacy strategy aimed at positioning El Salvador as a competitive and reliable partner in the global market.

This initiative reaffirms the Bukele administration’s approach to proactive international engagement and its focus on strengthening the Salvadoran economy through strategic alliances with key global stakeholders.
