President Nayib Bukele met with members of the United States House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce to discuss potential investment opportunities in El Salvador’s renewable energy sector. The U.S. delegation was led by Congressman Gary Palmer of Alabama, chairman of the committee’s Energy Subcommittee.
The primary focus of the meeting was to explore collaboration in the development of clean energy technologies, particularly for powering data centers in El Salvador. The discussions highlighted the country’s advancements in technological infrastructure and its growing potential as a regional hub for data centers driven by sustainable energy sources.
Also present at the meeting was El Salvador’s ambassador to the United States, Milena Mayorga, who emphasized the country’s commitment to promoting innovation and energy transition through strategic partnerships.
“El Salvador is emerging as a competitive destination for renewable energy investment, thanks to its political stability, favorable tax policies, and abundant access to geothermal and solar energy,” said Ambassador Mayorga.
Congressman Palmer, widely recognized for his advocacy of energy security and sustainable economic policies, noted the significance of this bilateral engagement. The delegation’s visit underscores the increasing interest of U.S. lawmakers in identifying strategic opportunities across Latin America in key sectors such as energy, technology, and innovation.
This visit is part of a broader regional tour by members of the U.S. Congress aimed at strengthening economic and technological ties with Latin American nations, while also assessing the region’s role in the global energy transition.
