GastroLab Graduates Empower the Next Generation of Entrepreneurs to Boost El Salvador’s Tourism Industry.

In a major milestone for the country’s tourism sector, 442 young individuals have successfully graduated from the GastroLab SurfCity program, ready to make their mark in the tourism industry or embark on entrepreneurial ventures. This initiative, aimed at fostering new talent and promoting local flavors, was a collaborative effort between the World Food Program (WFP) El Salvador, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Ministry of Tourism (MITUR), and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The graduation ceremony took place across multiple locations in Santa Ana, La Libertad, San Miguel, and La Unión, celebrating the achievements of 442 aspiring chefs and entrepreneurs. Among them were 131 men and 311 women, each equipped with new skills and opportunities to pursue careers in the growing tourism industry or launch their own businesses.

“We are proud to see the next generation of leaders in El Salvador’s tourism sector,” said a representative from MITUR. “These graduates will play a key role in driving economic growth and showcasing the rich culinary traditions of our country.”
