For the second consecutive year, El Salvador will host the prestigious Tour El Salvador, a top-level cycling event that will bring together 120 athletes from across the world. Minister of Public Works and Transportation, Romeo Herrera, alongside authorities from the Ministry of Tourism, officially announced the event and its circuits during a press conference.



“From April 1st to 10th, we will have the Tour El Salvador 2025, an important event where 120 athletes will compete for 4,000 UCI (International Cyclists’ Union) points. These points contribute to their global rankings, allowing them to qualify for the Tour de France and the Olympics,” stated Minister Herrera.
The event will welcome teams from various countries, including Germany, Switzerland, Ecuador, Mexico, El Salvador, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, France, and Brazil, totaling 20 participating teams. The competition will consist of four Grand Prix races and four major stages.

Competition Schedule and Circuits:
- April 1: The event kicks off at El Boquerón, starting from El Principito, passing through El Boquerón Street, and concluding at Las Brumas restaurant. This stage covers 9 kilometers.
- April 2: A 2-kilometer Prologue takes place in the Historic Center of San Salvador at 7:30 p.m., featuring illuminated streets and team enclosures.
- April 3: The first official stage begins at 2:30 p.m. from the Bypass Camino a Surf City, traveling along the Litoral Highway, La Libertad beaches, and the Ruta de Las Flores Highway, ending at Central Park in Nahuizalco.
- April 4: Stage 2 starts at 2:30 p.m. in San Miguel’s Central Park and concludes at the Gerardo Barrios Periphery, covering a distance of 69 kilometers.
- April 5: Stage 3 begins at 2:30 p.m. from El Salvador del Mundo and concludes at Usulután Central Park. This route will cover the Comalapa Highway and Litoral Highway, spanning 121 kilometers.
- April 6: Stage 4 takes place at 2:30 p.m., starting and finishing at Santa Ana Central Park, passing through Texistepeque and Metapán. This stage covers 94.1 kilometers.
- April 8: The El Salvador Grand Prix starts at Salvador del Mundo and ends at Metrocentro Sonsonate.
- April 9: The President Grand Prix begins at 2:30 p.m., starting at the San Andrés Archaeological Site in Santa Ana and concluding at Cerro Verde National Park.
- April 10: The final competition, the Surf City Grand Prix, begins at 9:30 a.m. in the Historic Center of San Salvador and ends at the Walter Thilo Deininger Surf City Adventure Park.

Minister Herrera emphasized the importance of this event, not only for the athletes but also for promoting El Salvador’s progress and scenic beauty. “Tour El Salvador 2025 is a great opportunity to showcase the transformation of our country while strengthening its position in international cycling,” he added.
With the participation of renowned cyclists and international teams, Tour El Salvador 2025 is set to be an exciting and highly competitive event that further solidifies the country’s reputation in the world of professional cycling.
