El Salvador is renowned for its high-quality coffee, and among its finest varieties is Pacamara, a specialty developed in the country and recognized worldwide since its market debut in 1992. With a rich body and creamy texture, this coffee offers floral aromas and complex flavors of chocolate, clove, cinnamon, vanilla, and berries, leaving a bright, juicy acidity and a long-lasting sweetness.
Pacamara consistently ranks among the top in the Cup of Excellence competition, organized by the Salvadoran Coffee Institute (ISC). It has scored as high as 93.52 points, with prices reaching $95.7 per pound. Its exceptional quality has earned it the title of Presidential Coffee and a place in El Salvador’s Bicentennial coffee selection. Key export markets include the United States, Japan, South Korea, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Australia.
Due to its popularity, Pacamara is now cultivated in other Central American countries, Mexico, and Peru, though it remains a proud Salvadoran product. Recognizing its cultural and economic impact, El Salvador’s Legislative Assembly declared March 23 as Pacamara Coffee Day in 2024. Salvadoran embassies and consulates worldwide celebrate the occasion, strengthening international ties—one cup of coffee at a time.
