In less than a month, Salvadorans will have access to the first locally grown Russet potato crop, marking a significant milestone for the country’s agricultural sector. The Minister of Agriculture, Óscar Domínguez, announced that the potatoes will soon be available in AgroMarkets and supply centers, ensuring a fresh and locally sourced option for consumers.
The production has been carried out on hundreds of acres in a staggered manner to guarantee a consistent supply. While Salvadoran-grown Russet potatoes are set to enter the market, imported varieties from the United States remain available in AgroMarkets.
Additionally, Minister Domínguez revealed plans for the opening of a new supply center, further strengthening national agricultural distribution.
This initiative aligns with the government’s ongoing efforts to boost domestic agricultural production and provide consumers with affordable, high-quality food options.
