El Salvador Leads Western Hemisphere in Tourism Recovery.

El Salvador has emerged as the country with the best tourism recovery in the Western Hemisphere, according to Minister of Tourism Morena Valdez. The official attributed this achievement largely to improvements in security, a key factor in attracting both national and international visitors.

“It is very important to highlight that this is primarily due to security,” Valdez emphasized, noting that the country has worked diligently to enhance its tourist destinations and provide a high-quality experience.

However, the minister warned that the challenge for 2025 will be to maintain the current figures while ensuring optimal and high-quality service for visitors.

In addition to security, Salvadoran cuisine has played a crucial role in drawing tourists to the country. According to Valdez, 80% of visitors cite traditional food as one of the main reasons for choosing El Salvador as a travel destination.

“It is important for us to continue training and strengthening our human capital to better serve visitors,” the minister stated, highlighting the government’s efforts in training and certifying personnel within the sector.

The Ministry of Tourism also plans to enhance service quality throughout the entire tourism supply chain, including suppliers, transportation, and hotels. To achieve this, businesses are receiving training, and private sector involvement is being encouraged to improve overall service.

Regarding infrastructure, Valdez mentioned that an increase in accommodation options will help balance rental prices, promoting sector growth without compromising accessibility for tourists. These advancements and ongoing projects are part of a broader effort to establish El Salvador as an emerging and competitive international travel destination.
