President Nayib Bukele has emphasized that removing corrupt judges is essential for a country’s transformation, warning that without such actions, a «judicial dictatorship» would emerge, obstructing reforms and safeguarding systemic corruption.
«They will form a cartel (a judicial dictatorship) and block all reforms, protecting the systemic corruption that put them in their positions,» Bukele stated.

The president’s remarks were in response to billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, who asserted that prosecuting judges is crucial to restoring democratic power in the United States. Musk also highlighted that this approach was instrumental in El Salvador’s recovery.
«Unfortunately, as President Bukele eloquently articulates, there is no other option,» Musk posted. «We must impeach to save democracy.»

Bukele’s firm stance underscores his administration’s commitment to judicial reform and anti-corruption measures, reinforcing his broader efforts to reshape the country’s political and legal landscape.
