El Salvador’s Minister of Economy, María Luisa Hayem, highlighted the advantages of investing in El Salvador to over 400 Colombian business leaders across various industries. The presentation took place at the El Salvador: Business Hub in Central America and the Caribbean forum, held in Bogotá, Colombia’s capital.
Key participants included representatives from the chemical-pharmaceutical, food, construction, technology solutions, and hospitality sectors. The event was organized by the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with El Salvador’s Ministry of Economy (MINEC), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Invest in El Salvador.
As part of the forum, a trade mission was carried out with the participation of eight Salvadoran companies from the food, beverage, human and veterinary pharmaceutical, and cosmetics sectors.
“These trade missions enable Salvadoran companies to connect with potential buyers abroad. When new business deals are established, they drive investment, exports, and job creation in El Salvador,” said Minister Hayem.
According to MINEC, the main goal of the business forum was to explore opportunities for Salvadoran exports in the Colombian market, leveraging the benefits of the Trade Agreement between El Salvador and Colombia.
“During this business visit, the government was accompanied by eight companies and industry association representatives from the pharmaceutical, export, and manufacturing sectors. This reflects our collaborative efforts to boost the economy and the confidence that businesses have in El Salvador as a strategic location for expanding their production,” added the minister.
She concluded by noting that the visit to Colombia is expected to result in new business deals and follow-up visits from Colombian companies to El Salvador in the coming months, particularly in the tourism, construction, and manufacturing sectors.
