El Salvador is actively promoting business opportunities with Colombia as part of its ongoing efforts to position itself as the most attractive investment destination in the region. A trade mission, led by Minister of Economy María Luisa Hayem, is currently underway with support from private companies, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Salvadoran Embassy in Colombia.
The mission aims to highlight the significant progress El Salvador has made under President Nayib Bukele’s government, particularly in terms of social and legal security. Minister Hayem emphasized that entrepreneurs, including those from Colombia, are increasingly recognizing the country’s transformation and expressing interest in exploring new business ventures.
The mission’s agenda included meetings with prominent organizations such as the National Federation of Businessmen and Women (Fenalco) and the Colombian Hotel and Tourism Association (Cotelco). These discussions focused on the country’s improved security climate and the benefits of investing in El Salvador, including access to skilled labor, streamlined services for investors, competitive tax incentives, stable and sustainable energy, and excellent global connectivity.
Participants from various sectors, including furniture manufacturing, food, tourism, restaurants, footwear, clothing, startups, and security, attended these sessions. The Ministry of Economy also announced that Colombian business representatives will visit El Salvador in the coming months to explore investment opportunities firsthand.
In addition, Minister Hayem is set to attend the «El Salvador: Business Hub in Central America and the Caribbean» event, organized by the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, which aims to strengthen bilateral relations and further promote El Salvador as an investment and trade partner for Colombia. Silvia Cuéllar, President of the Salvadoran Exporters Corporation (Coexport), is also part of the delegation, working to boost export opportunities for El Salvador.
This trade mission underscores El Salvador’s commitment to enhancing its economic ties with Colombia and fostering greater business cooperation in the region.
