El Salvador Breaks Records with Largest Drug Seizure in History.

El Salvador continues its relentless fight against drug trafficking, with the Naval Task Force Tridente achieving another significant success. In a press conference held this afternoon at the La Unión Naval Base, Minister @merino_monroy, Minister @Vi11atoro, along with officials from the National Civil Police (@PNCSV) and the Attorney General’s Office (@FGR_SV), reported on the successful drug seizure carried out on January 27.

During this operation, two fishing vessels were intercepted off the coast. One vessel was found transporting 1.5 tons of cocaine, valued at approximately $39 million, while the other was supplying fuel. Additionally, eight Costa Rican nationals were apprehended. This marks a crucial achievement in the ongoing fight against drug trafficking, as El Salvador’s authorities continue to thwart criminal operations in the region.

As of 2024, El Salvador has seized a total of 22.6 tons of cocaine, valued at $565.2 million, surpassing all historical drug seizure records in the country. Minister @merino_monroy emphasized the government’s strong commitment to confronting the drug trade and maintaining constant vigilance through operations like the Trident Naval Task Force, which patrols beyond the country’s territorial seas.

“We have surpassed all historical drug seizures recorded in El Salvador,” the Minister declared, reaffirming the government’s determination to ensure the safety and security of the nation. He also highlighted El Salvador’s ongoing role in contributing to regional security efforts and global anti-drug initiatives.

The government, led by President @nayibbukele, remains committed to the continuous fight against drug trafficking, with further operations in close coordination with the Security Cabinet to protect the country’s security and contribute to international efforts.
