Fighting Corruption Head-On: El Salvador Prepares New Laws for Stricter Enforcement.

This afternoon, Attorney General Rodolfo Delgado attended the Political Commission of the Legislative Assembly to provide his technical opinion on the proposed Anti-Corruption Law. The initiative aims to strengthen ongoing efforts to combat corruption-related crimes.

The proposal seeks to reinforce measures that prioritize transparency, integrity, and stricter penalties for corruption offenses. The Attorney General emphasized that these actions will be as decisive as those taken against organized crime and gangs. The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) will coordinate efforts with state institutions to intensify the fight against corruption.

Delgado highlighted that this initiative provides the FGR with essential tools to investigate corruption cases and integrate existing legal frameworks, including the Asset Forfeiture Law, the Penal Code, and the Anti-Money Laundering Law, among others.

The government’s commitment to transparency and accountability continues to be a priority as El Salvador moves forward with this legislative effort.
