The Metropolitan Area Planning Office of San Salvador (Opamss) has launched a technical table in collaboration with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), aimed at fostering development and investment in key areas of the Metropolitan Area, specifically the municipalities of La Libertad Costa and La Libertad Sur.

The primary focus of this collaboration is to create a permanent space for joint efforts in analyzing infrastructure projects. According to Luis Rodríguez, Executive Director of Opamss, the initiative will focus on large-scale development projects, including those in strategic areas such as Surf City, which has become a focal point for investment.

“This technical table will allow us to evaluate current and projected investment data, soil quality, geomorphology, and identify areas of opportunity in business models and urban planning,” Rodríguez explained.

During the first session, Olga Gómez García, IDB Country Representative, emphasized the importance of sustainable urban development. The IDB’s multisectoral team, consisting of specialists in urban development, climate change, and tourism, discussed key projects in La Libertad Sur and La Libertad Costa, particularly their connection to the Surf City strategy.

The collaboration also addressed the role of urban planning in structuring investments, the impact of geomorphology on territorial development, and strategies to promote commercial growth while ensuring sustainable development.

Both institutions expressed a shared commitment to improving the quality of life for Salvadorans through strategic projects that prioritize sustainable growth and development.
