New Businesses Set to Open in San Salvador’s Historic Center.

San Salvador’s Historic Center is set to welcome a variety of new businesses in 2025, including cafes, craft shops, and fast-food restaurants, according to the Authority for the Historic Center.

Adriana Larín, the director of the Authority, shared that the year has started “strong,” with over 1,000 services already provided, a significant increase compared to previous years. “January usually doesn’t start as strongly as it has this year,” Larín remarked.

The coming months will see the opening of new ventures, such as a Café del Centro coffee shop and a new Wendy’s restaurant. Helados Sarita is also set to open a branch in Plaza Morazán, and Mayan Gifts will launch a new sales hall for products from local artisans. Additionally, the National Commission for Micro and Small Businesses (Conamype) will open an interactive museum featuring art and crafts.

These new additions are part of broader urban planning efforts to boost investment in the area, including changes in traffic patterns, underground cabling, and the removal of street vendors. With these efforts, the Historic Center aims to enhance its appeal for both tourists and investors, as reflected in a portfolio of $136 million in investments by the end of 2024, with $3 million earmarked for January 2025 alone.
