The Vice Ministry of Transportation (VMT) has intensified its efforts to promote road safety by providing specialized training for drivers from public institutions. Last week, the VMT conducted sessions focused on traffic regulations, responsible driving practices, and road safety measures.
These initiatives align with the government’s broader mission to create a new culture of respect and responsibility on Salvadoran roads. “We are dedicated to building a road culture based on respect. Do your part,” the VMT stated, calling on all drivers to contribute to safer mobility.
The training complements other recent measures implemented by the VMT, such as the activation of a photo radar system to enforce speed limits and improve compliance with traffic laws. This system is now operational on major highways, including Monseñor Romero Boulevard and Comalapa Highway, which leads to the El Salvador International Airport.
Additionally, the photo radar system includes mechanisms to fine foreign-plated vehicles for traffic violations. These cases are coordinated with the General Directorate of Migration and Foreign Affairs to ensure penalties are enforced.
Through these combined efforts, the VMT aims to reduce road accidents and instill responsible driving habits among all road users, paving the way for safer journeys across El Salvador.
