El Salvador Expects 15,000 Cruise Passengers in 2025, Boosting Tourism and Economy.

El Salvador is set to welcome around 4.2 million foreign visitors this year, according to the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur) estimates. A significant portion of this influx will come from cruise tourism, which continues to generate substantial economic benefits for the country.

The 2025 cruise season is set to begin in February, with an expected 15,000 cruise passengers arriving at Salvadoran ports. Minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez, confirmed the positive outlook, noting that seven shipping companies have chosen El Salvador as a docking destination due to the country’s improved security. “We are starting the season in February and working closely with the Autonomous Executive Port Commission (CEPA),” Valdez explained.

This year, El Salvador will see the arrival of two full luxury cruises for the first time, marking an exciting milestone for the country’s cruise tourism industry. Valdez highlighted that foreign tourists are particularly drawn to El Salvador’s sunny weather and stunning sunsets during this time of year.

“Several cruise ships are already confirmed for our summer season, which is especially appealing to tourists,” said Valdez.

Federico Anliker, President of CEPA, also emphasized that the security and hospitality El Salvador offers have been key factors in attracting cruise companies. “The way we receive and treat our visitors has encouraged them to return year after year, with the security improvements providing the final push,” Anliker noted.

The government remains committed to further enhancing the country’s appeal to international tourists, particularly cruise passengers, as part of its ongoing efforts to showcase El Salvador’s diverse destinations and boost the national economy.
