The Christmas Village in the Historic Center of San Salvador proved to be a major holiday attraction, drawing 2.5 million visitors between December 6, 2024, and January 2, 2025. With a daily average of 95,000 people, the event was a resounding success, offering a festive atmosphere filled with live music, holiday-themed attractions, and a heightened sense of security.

Among the most popular attractions were the Santa Claus House, the Train Station, and the Cookie House. The highlight of the festivities was the impressive ice skating rink and the largest Christmas tree in Central America, located in the Civic Plaza. Visitors also marveled at the beautifully decorated streets and avenues of the capital.

Security was a top priority during the event, with a strong presence of National Civil Police (PNC) officers, members of the Armed Forces, and Metropolitan Agents Corps (CAM) ensuring public safety. Tourists from both near and far expressed their satisfaction with the sense of security and the quality of the attractions.

The Christmas Village wrapped up on January 2 with a grand finale featuring a performance by the OPUS 593 trio, a magical New Year’s show with Mickey and Minnie, a spectacular fireworks display, and a concert by Sonora Dinamita.

Rafael Góchez, a local analyst, praised the ongoing transformation of the Historic Center, highlighting its role as a safe and vibrant space for families. He noted that the revitalization of the area is helping to improve El Salvador’s international image and boost tourism, an essential sector for the nation’s economic growth.

“Tourism is an economic engine,” said Góchez, noting that President Nayib Bukele is focused on fostering growth in the tourism sector over the next five years. “It’s an optimistic outlook for the country’s economic future,” he added.
