South-South Cooperation in Action: El Salvador and Bolivia Collaborate for Progress.

As part of the Basic Cooperation Agreement between El Salvador and the Plurinational State of Bolivia, the second meeting of the Joint Commission for Technical and Scientific Cooperation recently concluded, marking a significant step in fostering sustainable development and mutual progress.

The meeting resulted in the approval of six new projects under the II Bilateral Cooperation Program for 2023-2025. These initiatives, focused on areas such as the environment, water resources, agriculture, justice, and social inclusion, aim to strengthen the partnership between the two nations through South-South Cooperation.

A mid-term evaluation meeting has been established to monitor the progress of the projects and make necessary adjustments, ensuring their successful implementation. This proactive approach underlines the commitment of both countries to the program’s goals.

Representing El Salvador were institutions such as the Executive Hydroelectric Commission of the Lempa River (CEL), the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG), the Salvadoran Water Authority (ASA), and several others. These organizations work under the coordination of the El Salvador Agency for International Cooperation (ESCO), which plays a pivotal role in monitoring and supporting the initiatives.

Bolivia’s delegation, led by Vice Minister of Public Investment and External Financing Antonio Mullisaca Díaz, also included key representatives from Bolivian institutions tasked with project execution.

This cooperation effort not only strengthens diplomatic relations but also demonstrates how international partnerships can address global challenges and enhance the quality of life in both nations. Through ESCO, El Salvador reaffirms its dedication to advancing South-South Cooperation and fostering initiatives that benefit its citizens and the global community.
