A recent national survey conducted by CID Gallup shows overwhelming support for President Nayib Bukele, with 91% of Salvadorans approving of his performance. The survey highlights the public’s strong backing for Bukele’s leadership, particularly in the area of public security, where his policies have garnered the highest approval.

Luis Haug, General Manager of CID Gallup, noted during a Face to Face interview that Bukele’s approval ratings have remained consistently high throughout his second term. «Nine out of 10 Salvadorans support President Bukele’s management, and this has been a constant since the beginning of his administration,» Haug remarked. He also pointed out that the current approval ratings set Bukele apart from other Central American leaders, including Costa Rica’s president, which, according to Haug, have not seen such favorable numbers even during their political «honeymoons.»

The survey data further underscores President Bukele’s significant popularity compared to past administrations. While former President Alfredo Cristiani, widely considered one of El Salvador’s most popular leaders, had a 48% approval rating at a similar point in his tenure, Bukele enjoys an impressive 85% approval.

A key highlight of the survey is the public’s endorsement of Bukele’s security policies. According to the data, 88% of respondents consider the president’s efforts to improve public safety as his greatest achievement. Among these, 77% support the ongoing state of emergency measures, and 62% feel that even stronger actions should be taken against criminal gangs. This widespread backing has led many Salvadorans to call for the continuation of the state of emergency, with the majority indicating they do not want it to be lifted anytime soon.

As Bukele’s second term progresses, his high approval ratings suggest continued public confidence in his approach to tackling crime and improving security across the country.
