El Salvador Highlights Climate Action at COP29.

In a key event held at El Salvador’s Pavilion during COP29, the Ministry of Environment facilitated a dialogue on the impacts of climate events in the country. The discussion was part of the Study on Loss and Damage from Climate Events in El Salvador.

Experts from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) El Salvador, the European Commission’s Climate Change Program, and the Central American Commission for Environment and Development (CCAD) analyzed the far-reaching effects of climate events on human mobility, livelihoods, and the nation’s GDP. The panel emphasized the agricultural sector as one of the most severely impacted by these phenomena.

The session also showcased transformative initiatives and projects aimed at turning challenges into actionable solutions to mitigate and adapt to the adverse effects of climate change.

El Salvador’s efforts at COP29 underscore the urgent need for collaborative strategies to address climate resilience in vulnerable regions.
