El Salvador Strengthens Commitment to South-South Cooperation at the XXIX Ibero-American Summit.

Karla de Palma, Director-General of the Salvadoran Agency for International Cooperation (ESCO), began her agenda this week at the XXIX Ibero-American Summit, held in Cuenca, Ecuador. The summit includes numerous high-level meetings and parallel events, and de Palma’s participation highlights El Salvador’s active role in regional cooperation.

On November 11, de Palma attended the Second Meeting of the Intergovernmental Council of the Ibero-American Program for the Strengthening of South-South Cooperation (PIFCSS). This meeting brought together representatives from 21 member countries to discuss strategic issues relevant to the region.

“We are present at this event, where we discuss governance, accountability, financial sustainability, and innovation, because strengthening our institutions is essential to providing better services for our people,” stated de Palma, emphasizing El Salvador’s commitment to the session’s goals.

The meeting was led by Council Director Enrique O’farrill, who underscored that this year has been pivotal in advancing processes that strengthen South-South and triangular cooperation across Ibero-America.

The council also reviewed achievements under the PIFCSS program, explored opportunities to further develop this initiative, and outlined an action plan for the coming year. The goal is to address global challenges through innovative, collective solutions.

The Government of El Salvador remains firmly committed to advancing South-South and triangular cooperation as a way to collectively address global events impacting the Ibero-American region, maximizing each nation’s strengths and capabilities for regional benefit.
