Costa Rican Legislator Pilar Cisneros Highlights Bukele’s Success in Reshaping El Salvador.

Pilar Cisneros, a Legislator from Costa Rica, expressed strong admiration for Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele, stating that he has «rescued his country» from the grip of gang violence that once plagued El Salvador. During a recent television interview, Cisneros defended Bukele’s actions, acknowledging the challenges faced by his administration while highlighting the president’s success in improving security for Salvadorans.

«Here, some deputies are quick to criticize Bukele, pointing to human rights concerns, but let’s not overlook the fact that he has brought safety and stability to a country that was once under siege by criminal organizations,» Cisneros remarked.

Her comments come ahead of an official visit to Costa Rica by President Bukele, which will include a meeting with Costa Rican President Rodrigo Chaves. The visit is set for next Monday, and as part of the occasion, Bukele will be awarded the prestigious Juan Mora Fernández decoration in the degree of Grand Cross Gold Plate by the Costa Rican government.

Cisneros emphasized the importance of recognizing Bukele’s political accomplishments, noting the overwhelming support he continues to enjoy in El Salvador. «Costa Rica acknowledges his electoral victory and his significant popularity. He should be received as a head of state, as he deserves,» she said.

President Bukele’s visit marks a significant moment in Central American relations, and his recognition in Costa Rica underscores the international acknowledgment of his leadership in reshaping El Salvador’s security landscape.
