In a continuing effort to combat gang violence, the government of President Nayib Bukele is ramping up its initiatives to dismantle the last remnants of terrorist structures in the country. Minister of Justice and Security, Gustavo Villatoro, reaffirmed the government’s commitment during a recent briefing, highlighting successful operations carried out by the Ministry.

In a significant development, two gang members were apprehended in the 10 de Octubre neighborhood of San Marcos. The captured individuals, identified as Javier Eduardo Valle Valle, alias “Javi,” and Pedro Moran Pérez, alias “Piter,” are both affiliated with the notorious Mara Salvatrucha gang.
“We continue to extract remnants of terrorist structures,” Villatoro stated, emphasizing the government’s unwavering stance against gang activity. The minister noted that following President Bukele’s directive to activate a security siege in the 10 de Octubre area, law enforcement identified specific targets for capture.
The minister praised the advancements in technology utilized by the National Civil Police (PNC), which have played a crucial role in this ongoing fight. “Thanks to the technology that our PNC talents now have in the palm of their hands with the ONI system, the capture of several targets of police interest has been achieved,” Villatoro explained.
As a result of these efforts, the government aims to enhance public safety and ensure that those apprehended are prosecuted in accordance with the law. This proactive approach demonstrates El Salvador’s determination to eradicate gang influence and restore peace to its communities.
The government’s continuous actions reflect a broader strategy to create a safer environment for all Salvadorans, sending a strong message that crime will not be tolerated.
