Sanam Holding Group to Invest in El Salvador’s Historic Center and Surf City.

The Sanam Holding Group, a prominent Moroccan investment firm, is set to enhance the tourism landscape of El Salvador with plans to build boutique hotels in the Historic Center of San Salvador and the Surf City area in La Libertad. This announcement was made by Fayçal Alj, the group’s Director of Strategic Projects, during a recent visit to the Historic Center alongside the Moroccan ambassador to El Salvador, Ignacio de Cossío.

According to Alj, the decision to invest in these locations stems from their unique appeal. “In Surf City, our investment is driven by the potential for world-class surfing competitions,” he stated. “The Historic Center, on the other hand, offers a central and distinctive location that is crucial for our vision.”

Sanam Holding Group specializes in boutique hotels, favoring smaller, more unique accommodations that reflect their surroundings. Alj highlighted that the group has successfully developed similar properties in several Moroccan cities, including Casablanca, Uarzazate, and Rabat, each showcasing local specialties that set them apart.

In addition to hotel investments, Sanam Holding is also keen on importing traditional Salvadoran products, such as coffee, cocoa, and nuts. “These initiatives represent exciting opportunities for our group,” Alj noted, emphasizing the supportive role of the Salvadoran government in facilitating their investment plans.

Luis Rodríguez, executive director of Coamss/Opamss, confirmed that additional delegations of Moroccan businessmen interested in investing in El Salvador are expected in the coming weeks. He stressed the government’s commitment to attracting investment in the Metropolitan Area of San Salvador (AMSS), which now includes the municipalities of La Libertad Este and La Libertad Costa, areas earmarked for the Surf City development.

Rodríguez previously met with Brahim Baddi, Chargé d’Affaires at the Moroccan Embassy in El Salvador, to discuss the creation of an investment portfolio platform aimed at establishing a streamlined process for private investments, further paving the way for collaborative opportunities between Morocco and El Salvador.

As Sanam Holding Group moves forward with its plans, both the Historic Center and Surf City are poised to benefit from this significant investment, which promises to enhance the local economy and bolster the tourism sector in the region.
