This week, El Salvador welcomed Mr. Daren Tang, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), in a visit marking the Salvadoran government’s ongoing efforts to promote innovation and the adoption of new technologies.
Mr. Tang engaged with government officials to discuss strategic initiatives that are driving economic growth and attracting investment to El Salvador. Additionally, he met with Salvadoran entrepreneurs, including startups and small and medium enterprises, whose creativity and dedication are positioning the country as a global player through distinctive brands.
A highlight of Mr. Tang’s visit was his participation in the launch of the National Strategy for the Promotion of Creativity, Innovation, and Invention for Economic Development through Intellectual Property (ENPI) 2024-2029. This strategy will play a crucial role in safeguarding local creations and boosting economic progress.
Originally from Singapore, Mr. Tang brings extensive experience in intellectual property and international trade, having held key leadership positions in these areas in his home country. His visit underscores WIPO’s commitment to supporting El Salvador’s economic development through intellectual property.
