El Salvador Signs Agreement to Boost Youth Development in Communities Affected by Violence.

In a continued effort to generate development opportunities for young people living in communities impacted by violence, the Government of President Nayib Bukele has partnered with private companies to implement initiatives that promote professional training and dignified employment.

On Friday, the Directorate of Integration and the Foundation for the Integral Development of Workers in the Plastics Industry (Fundeplast) signed a cooperation agreement aimed at fostering professional and economic development for families from communities that were once plagued by violence. These areas have seen significant improvements thanks to the Territorial Control Plan and the state of emergency measures.

The agreement was signed by Alejandro Gutman, honorary president of the Directorate of Integration, and Jairo Cortez, president of Fundeplast. The initiative aligns with President Bukele’s mandate to create opportunities for youth in these communities.

“I’m very pleased that such an important company like Fundeplast has joined our efforts. This year, we’ve been providing a tremendous number of opportunities for young people,” Gutman said.

The agreement focuses on promoting social cohesion and ensuring equitable access to development opportunities, particularly for vulnerable groups. Over 200 young individuals, who are finishing high school this year, will benefit from this project. Under the agreement, they will receive full scholarships to pursue two-year technical careers related to the plastics industry.

“The agreement will allow more young people to join our foundation and get the training they need. That’s the opportunity. The Directorate of Integration will help us reach those youth, and we’ll provide training in specialties such as quality control for packaging, flexography, blow molding, injection processes, and plastic recycling,” stated Jairo Cortez, president of Fundeplast.

President Bukele’s administration continues to work towards improving the living conditions of Salvadoran families while ensuring access to dignified employment and professional training opportunities.
