Today, the National Workshop for the Dissemination of the Regional Master Plan for Mobility and Logistics 2035 kicks off, organized by the Ministry of Public Works (@ObrasPublicasSV) in partnership with the Secretariat for Central American Economic Integration (SIECA) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
This pivotal document aims to enhance the efficiency and quality of transportation, mobility, and intraregional logistics throughout Central America. Minister Romeo Herrera (@RomeoHerrera1) is actively involved in the process, which outlines the roadmap for implementing the plan within El Salvador.
During the workshop, Minister Herrera emphasized the region’s economic context, stating, “In Central America alone, we are exporting approximately $3,122 million.” He underscored the need for the Master Plan to address significant competitive disadvantages, noting that the cost of transporting a ton per kilometer in El Salvador is $0.17, compared to just $0.08 in countries like Rwanda.
The workshop represents a critical step toward improving infrastructure and logistics, aiming to bolster El Salvador’s economic integration and competitiveness within the region.
