El Salvador Launches Trusted Operator Program, Certifies First 14 Companies.

This week, the Government of El Salvador officially launched the Trusted Operator program, aimed at enhancing the efficiency and safety of commercial exchanges for businesses operating within the country. In a ceremony led by the General Directorate of Customs, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Finance, and the Secretariat of Commerce and Investments, the first 14 companies were recognized as Trusted Operators.

The program is designed to streamline trade processes by providing priority attention, reduced inspection times, and agile clearance, while also ensuring international recognition for certified companies. Minister of Finance Jerson Posada emphasized the initiative’s goal of facilitating trade through efficient, specialized services for importers, exporters, customs agents, and transporters—key players in El Salvador’s economic transformation.

«Companies certified under the Trusted Operator program are recognized as safe and reliable business partners, benefiting from simplified customs procedures and access to fast lanes at borders in participating countries,» Posada stated.

The initiative marks a significant collaboration between the public and private sectors, focusing on trade facilitation as a means of advancing regional economic integration in Central America.

Silvia Cuéllar, president of the Corporation of Exporters of El Salvador (Coexport), highlighted the commitment to certifying 100 companies, underscoring the government’s ongoing efforts to improve border crossings and streamline administrative processes. «The sustained efforts of this Government to facilitate trade have led to significant achievements, focusing on efficiency and innovation,» Cuéllar noted.

With the launch of the Trusted Operator program, El Salvador aims to enhance its competitiveness in international trade, positioning itself as a reliable hub for business operations in the region.
