The Embassy of El Salvador in Singapore recently participated in the «Rum Fest 2024,» a three-day celebration of rum held annually on the first weekend of August at Millenia Walk. The Rum Fest is organized by a collective of rum enthusiasts aiming not only to offer tasting experiences but also to educate consumers about one of the world’s most versatile spirits.
This year, over 20 rum brands were showcased, representing a variety of countries, including El Salvador, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Martinique, Cambodia, Thailand, India, Jamaica, and Paraguay. Along with tastings, the festival featured masterclasses led by industry experts, designed for those looking to expand their knowledge or sample exclusive rum expressions.
El Salvador was proudly represented by Ron Cihuatán, a brand that has gained international recognition through the country’s diplomatic and consular network. Attendees at the event had the opportunity to enjoy a variety of rum-based cocktails, while Caribbean-inspired cuisine was also available to enhance the experience.
The Salvadoran diplomatic mission used the festival as a platform to highlight the quality and uniqueness of El Salvador’s rum to a global audience. The embassy successfully fostered commercial relationships, establishing contacts with distributors, importers, and rum industry experts, with the goal of exploring business opportunities and export agreements. Additionally, El Salvador’s tourism and culture were promoted, further strengthening the country’s international image.
Mauricio Morán, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of El Salvador in Singapore, expressed his satisfaction with the positioning of Salvadoran rum. “Rum Fest is an exceptional platform that celebrates the richness and diversity of one of the world’s most cherished spirits. For us in El Salvador, this is an invaluable opportunity to showcase the quality and distinct character of our rums, which reflect the tradition and spirit of our land,” he stated.
Morán added that participating in the event not only allows El Salvador to share its products with the world but also to educate rum enthusiasts about the depth and uniqueness of the country’s heritage. “We are proud to bring the essence of El Salvador to this international celebration,” he concluded.
