The Autonomous Executive Port Commission (CEPA) announced the first call for bids related to the construction of the Pacific International Airport in the La Unión department. Companies interested in participating can now request information on the land preparation tender for the new terminal.
Interested firms have until July 11 to request the requirements for the bidding process by emailing comprasadp@cepa.gob.sv. This marks the initial tender for the construction of the Pacific International Airport, a flagship project under President Nayib Bukele’s “Plan Cuscatlán.”
CEPA confirmed in March that land preparation for the new terminal would commence soon, stating that 80% of the required land had been acquired and geotechnical studies were underway. The airport is planned to be constructed in the Condadillo and Flor de Mangle hamlets within the La Unión district.
According to CEPA President Federico Anliker, the terminal will require an investment exceeding $300 million. In May, the Legislative Assembly approved $19.4 million to support the project, funding consultancies, complementary studies, preliminary works, and project staffing.
Former Presidential Commissioner for Strategic Projects, Cristian Flores, who is now facing criminal charges, had previously stated that the Pacific airport and train projects would materialize during President Bukele’s second term.
