The Development Bank of Latin America Donates $250,000 to El Salvador for Rain Damage Relief.

The Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF) has announced a donation of $250,000 to El Salvador to aid in the aftermath of severe rains that have impacted the country. The funds are earmarked for humanitarian aid and the reconstruction of damaged infrastructure.

CAF’s Executive President, Sergio Díaz-Granados, expressed the institution’s solidarity with those affected by the devastating rains. “I wish to express our deepest solidarity with the Salvadoran people and acknowledge the government’s actions to support those affected, as well as the resilience of the population and collective efforts of society in response to this situation,” stated Díaz-Granados.

Díaz-Granados emphasized that CAF hopes this contribution will aid humanitarian efforts to address the emergency through appropriate governmental channels designated by the Salvadoran government. “CAF reaffirms its commitment as a strategic ally for the development of its member countries,” he added.

El Salvador’s Foreign Minister, Alexandra Hill Tinoco, expressed her gratitude for CAF’s support. “On behalf of the Salvadoran people, I deeply appreciate CAF’s support during these times when our territory has been affected by intense rains,” she wrote on her X account.

Minister Hill Tinoco also extended her thanks to Díaz-Granados personally, posting, “Thank you for yet another show of solidarity and confidence in El Salvador.”

Additionally, Deputy Foreign Minister Adriana Mira highlighted in a press conference on Tuesday that international partners were quick to respond and showed a keen interest in ensuring the well-being of the Salvadoran population. “I want to take this opportunity to thank our cooperating partners who, even before we made specific requests for international cooperation, reached out to see how they could support us. This speaks highly of the relationships El Salvador maintains with the world,” she noted.
