Argentine President Javier Milei met with President Nayib Bukele of El Salvador after attending Bukele’s inauguration ceremony. The Argentine government is interested in replicating El Salvador’s security measures.
During the meeting, the leaders discussed various topics to strengthen bilateral cooperation and explore new opportunities for joint development.
Photographs of the diplomatic encounter were published by El Salvador’s Casa Presidencial and President Javier Milei’s office on the social media platform X. The meeting also included Argentina’s Secretary General of the Presidency, Karina Milei.
The Argentine president arrived in El Salvador on Friday night to accompany Bukele at the start of his second constitutional term. Recently, Argentina’s Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich, praised the Salvadoran president’s approach to combating gangs and suggested implementing similar measures in Argentina.
«We want to follow the model you are leading. Reducing crime as you have done,» stated the official.
