Nayib Bukele, the candidate of Nuevas Ideas, was inaugurated as the President of El Salvador for the 2024-2029 term in a solemn ceremony held at the National Palace in San Salvador.

Following a decisive victory in the presidential elections held in February this year, Bukele took the oath of office on Saturday, marking the beginning of his second consecutive five-year term. This historic electoral triumph made Bukele the most-voted president in El Salvador’s history and solidified his position as the most favorably viewed leader in the Americas, according to international surveys.

The inauguration ceremony took place in the heart of San Salvador’s historic center and was attended by representatives from various countries and public institutions. Bukele was sworn in and received the presidential sash from Ernesto Castro, President of the Legislative Assembly. The event was attended by 57 national parliament members, with the notable absence of opposition legislators.

Outside the National Palace, thousands of Salvadorans gathered to witness Bukele’s oath and to hear the subsequent address he delivered after being sworn in. The ceremony was also broadcast live to reach a wider audience.

Additionally, Félix Ulloa was sworn in as Vice President of El Salvador for the 2024-2029 term, beginning his second consecutive term alongside President Bukele.
