King Felipe VI of Spain has arrived in El Salvador to attend the presidential inauguration of Nayib Bukele, set to take place on Saturday, June 1, at the National Palace in San Salvador.
The King’s plane touched down at El Salvador International Airport shortly after noon, where he was greeted by Foreign Minister Alexandra Hill Tinoco and a delegation of Salvadoran government representatives.
Felipe VI joins Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa, who has already arrived, along with other heads of state expected to attend, including Argentina’s Javier Milei and Costa Rica’s Rodrigo Chaves.
The visit of King Felipe VI underscores the international significance of Bukele’s inauguration for his 2024-2029 term, following his decisive victory in the February presidential elections.
