El Salvador Grants Citizenship to 41 Individuals from Around the World.

In a solemn ceremony, Minister of Security and Justice Gustavo Villatoro, along with Director General of Migration Ricardo Cucalón, welcomed 41 new citizens to El Salvador. These individuals, hailing from various countries including the Philippines, Spain, Peru, China, Mexico, and Switzerland, took the oath of allegiance, committing to the principles and values that define the Salvadoran nation.

The new citizens have fulfilled all the legal requirements to obtain Salvadoran nationality, and this ceremony marks their official integration into the Salvadoran community. They will now enjoy all the rights, privileges, and responsibilities that come with their new citizenship.

“It is an honor to preside over this ceremony where 41 individuals from around the world receive Salvadoran citizenship. Our small but resilient country is making significant strides in reclaiming common-sense public policies and firmly recognizing that the family is the foundation of society,” said Minister Villatoro.

Reflecting on the broader context of the nation’s progress, Minister Villatoro added, “We have undergone a necessary transformation during the first five years of President Nayib Bukele’s administration, tackling rampant criminality. It has not been easy, but you, our new citizens, are joining El Salvador at its best moment. I have no doubt about the contributions you will make to our society.”

He encouraged the new citizens to actively participate and bring their knowledge and cultural backgrounds to enrich El Salvador. “We want you to get involved and contribute so that El Salvador can grow even greater. Your families will live in a safer environment. We are recognized globally for overcoming adversities, whether natural or social,” Villatoro stated.

“You are joining this society, and I am confident that you will greatly contribute to our continued development in peace and within a responsible environment,” Minister Villatoro concluded.

This ceremony is a testament to El Salvador’s commitment to inclusivity and the recognition of the valuable contributions that new citizens bring to the nation.
