In an exciting cultural and commercial exchange, El Salvador is set to introduce its premium coffee to Morocco with the first-ever coffee tasting event in Africa. Ambassador Ignacio de Cossío announced that a shipment of the renowned «golden bean» from Finca Las Brisas in the Apaneca-Ilamatepec region has successfully arrived in Morocco. This farm, owned by Francisco Cerón, a fifth-generation Salvadoran coffee grower, is celebrated for producing some of the finest coffee beans in the region.

From June 12th to 19th, 30 selected cafes across the cities of Rabat, Tangier, Casablanca, and Tetouan will offer free tastings of this exceptional Salvadoran coffee. Coffee lovers in Morocco will have the unique opportunity to experience the rich, complex flavors that distinguish Salvadoran coffee from other varieties.
This initiative is a result of the collaborative efforts between the Salvadoran Embassy and Café Carrión, a renowned Moroccan coffee importer celebrating its centennial anniversary. The event not only marks a significant milestone in promoting Salvadoran coffee but also strengthens the cultural and commercial ties between El Salvador and Morocco.
Ambassador de Cossío emphasized the importance of this event, stating, «This coffee tasting is more than just an introduction to our premium product; it is a celebration of the hard work and dedication of Salvadoran coffee growers like Francisco Cerón and a testament to the vibrant partnership between our two countries.»
The week-long event aims to highlight the unique qualities of Salvadoran coffee, which is grown in the fertile volcanic soils of the Apaneca-Ilamatepec region. Known for its bright acidity, balanced sweetness, and intricate flavor profile, Salvadoran coffee has earned a reputation among coffee connoisseurs worldwide.
As Morocco’s coffee culture continues to grow, the introduction of Salvadoran coffee is expected to add a new dimension to the local market, offering Moroccan coffee enthusiasts a taste of one of the world’s finest coffees. This event sets the stage for future collaborations and paves the way for Salvadoran coffee to become a staple in Moroccan cafes.
With anticipation building, the Salvadoran Embassy and Café Carrión invite everyone to join in this celebration of coffee excellence and enjoy a truly unique tasting experience.
