Avianca has announced the revival of its direct connection from San Salvador to Madrid, Spain, for the upcoming summer season in Europe, in a move aimed at providing enhanced connectivity for Salvadorans.
As per the airline’s statement, the route will initially operate from June 15th to September 28th, featuring four weekly frequencies departing from El Salvador International Airport on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Flights from the Spanish capital will operate on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Operated by the Spanish company Wamos, specializing in charter and wet lease flights, the service will utilize Airbus A330 aircraft with a capacity of 288 passengers.
Alex Benítez, Avianca’s Vice President for Central America and the Andean Region, noted the positive response received from customers during 2023, prompting the decision to reactivate the route.
«We are committed to providing point-to-point connectivity for Salvadorans. We hope that this year, our customers will continue to choose us for flights to Madrid, and we do not rule out extending this route as we did last year,» explained Benítez.
He further highlighted that this year, Avianca will offer a renewed experience for traveling in the business cabin, featuring a new onboard menu, comfort amenities, and an amenities kit.
Additionally, the company will introduce three fare options in economy class: Light, Classic, and Flex, along with the business class option for executive travelers, ensuring optimal comfort for all passengers.
Madrid joins the roster of Avianca’s routes to Lima, Peru, and Montreal, Canada, where the airline is set to commence operations. This move underscores Avianca’s commitment to expanding its network and facilitating seamless travel experiences for passengers.
