El Salvador Welcomes 28% More International Tourists This Easter Week.

El Salvador continues to solidify its position as a top tourist destination, with a remarkable surge in international visitors during this Easter holiday period. According to recent reports, the influx of tourists has seen a significant uptick of over 20% compared to the previous year.

Data released by the Ministry of Tourism (MITUR) reveals that from March 23rd to March 27th of 2024, El Salvador greeted a total of 76,000 international visitors, marking a substantial 28% increase from the same period last year.

This surge in tourism also signifies a remarkable achievement for the country, as it has already reached 60% of the projected target set by the Ministry of Tourism for this Easter holiday season.

Statistics provided by MITUR indicate that 64% of international tourists arrived in the country via land routes, while 36% opted for air travel. Among the top contributing nations, Guatemala leads the pack, accounting for 36% of the total visitors.

Following closely behind is the United States, representing 29% of international tourists, with Honduras at 19%, and 16% originating from various other countries around the globe.

This substantial increase in tourist arrivals underscores El Salvador’s newfound status as a safe and attractive destination for travelers worldwide. This achievement can be attributed to the social transformations spearheaded by President Nayib Bukele, which have effectively positioned the country as the safest in all of Latin America.

As El Salvador continues to allure visitors with its natural beauty, rich culture, and hospitable atmosphere, it remains poised for further growth and development in its tourism sector.
