El Salvador Explores Environmental Collaboration with United Arab Emirates.

Towards fostering international cooperation on environmental and risk management projects, Fernando López, the head of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MARN), met with the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates, Ahmed Hatem Barghash Almenhali, and the Alternate Ambassador, Sultan Mohamed Altaei. The high-level discussions took place at MARN’s Threat Monitoring Center.

The primary focus of the meeting was to establish significant ties between the two nations in the realms of environmental sustainability and risk prevention. López expressed his honor at the opportunity, stating, “Today, I had the honor of meeting with the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates and the Alternate Ambassador to forge meaningful connections on environmental issues.”

As part of the agenda, the officials toured the Threat Monitoring Center, gaining insights into the workings of MARN’s new early earthquake alert application. This cutting-edge technology is being implemented by MARN to proactively mitigate risks and enhance the country’s disaster preparedness.

“Throughout our discussions, we exchanged ideas about various initiatives and projects to be developed collaboratively, underscoring our shared commitment to sustainability,” explained Fernando López.
