El Salvador to Host Centromérica Travel Market 2024, Boosting Regional Tourism.

To catalyze business opportunities between Central American and Dominican Republic entrepreneurs with buyers from around the world, El Salvador is set to host the Centromérica Travel Market 2024 from April 13 to 18.

Organized by the Salvadoran Chamber of Tourism (Casatur), the Central America Tourism Promotion Agency (CATA), the Federation of Tourism Chambers of Central America (Fedecatur), the Salvadoran Tourism Corporation (Corsatur), and the Ministry of Tourism of El Salvador, the event aims to bring together the tourism offerings of Central America and the Dominican Republic to solidify partnerships with global counterparts.

At least 80 wholesale buyers of tourism products and services from Europe, Asia, and North America are expected to participate in the event. The Centromérica Travel Market 2024 will see the convergence of over 100 companies from Central America and the Dominican Republic, spanning various tourism sectors, seeking to strengthen business ties. The organizers anticipate a significant international press presence that will showcase the diverse offerings.

Minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez, highlighted the unique attractions of the region, emphasizing not only its distinctive destinations but also the advantage of short distances, facilitating a rich tourist experience and expanding the possibilities for visitors to discover each country.

Valdez expressed, “Antigua Guatemala is one of the most beautiful colonial cities in Central America, El Salvador boasts the world’s best waves and a developing gastronomy, Honduras holds Mayan heritage and pristine diving beaches, Nicaragua offers natural beauty and tradition, Costa Rica features stunning greenery, Panama boasts excellent infrastructure, and the Dominican Republic has a tradition of sun and beach.”

Boris Iraheta, Secretary-General of CATA, pointed out that the region received 24 million visitors last year, and events like the Centromérica Travel Market 2024 are expected to further fuel the enthusiasm to explore the region. He noted that holding the event in El Salvador has garnered attention from buyers, stating, “Wholesale buyers have approached us enthusiastically wanting to explore El Salvador. The country, as well as Central America in general, is becoming a trending destination, competing with Southeast Asia based on the tourist profile it attracts.”
