El Salvador Showcases Security Changes to Peruvian Minister of Justice, Piques Interest in the Model.

El Salvador’s strides in security transformation under the Plan Control Territorial caught the attention of Peru’s Minister of Justice, Eduardo Arana, who described the nation as now enjoying a “culture of peace.”

During a working visit aimed at understanding strategies within the Salvadoran prison system, Minister Arana received insights from Adriana Mira, the Vice Minister of Foreign Relations. She highlighted the positive impact of El Salvador’s Plan Control Territorial on security and development opportunities within the country.

Vice Minister Mira emphasized that the Plan Control Territorial, implemented by President Nayib Bukele’s administration, effectively combats gang-related crime, leading to a significant reduction in homicides, the incarceration of gang members, and the establishment of exceptional measures.

Elaborating on the security changes, Mira pointed out that El Salvador has now become one of the safest countries in Latin America. The proactive measures have not only contributed to crime reduction but have also elevated the nation to a prominent tourist destination, creating employment opportunities and fostering productive projects for the local population.

“El Salvador is now a safe country and a tourist destination. We used to be the most insecure nation in the continent, but that has changed; we are now a destination with a high level of security,” stated Vice Minister Mira.

Expressing the Peruvian government’s interest in learning from El Salvador’s security model, Minister Arana remarked, “We want to understand the reality and the Salvadoran security model that is widely talked about. We want to closely experience this culture of peace that has initiated in El Salvador and strengthen the bonds of friendship.”

Vice Minister Mira reiterated the Salvadoran government’s commitment to enhancing bilateral relations with Peru and continuing collaborative initiatives for mutual benefit. As both nations seek to deepen their understanding and cooperation, the exchange of experiences in security strategies becomes a pivotal aspect of building lasting ties.
