In a bid to enhance the National Trade Facilitation Strategy, the Salvadoran government, led by the Director General of Customs, Benjamin Mayorga, engaged in a crucial meeting with representatives from companies situated in two industrial parks. The focus of the meeting was to assess and streamline customs processes.
The Salvadoran government aims to reinforce the National Trade Facilitation Strategy, introduced last year and set to endure until 2027, through periodic consultations with local entrepreneurs. This initiative is designed to expedite the exchange of goods, reducing both time and costs, ultimately fostering increased business competitiveness and attracting more investments.
Director General of Customs, Benjamin Mayorga, recently convened with representatives from companies located in the expansive American Industrial Park, the largest free trade zone in the country, spanning 220,000 square meters of industrial space and housing over 26 international companies that collectively provide approximately 12,000 direct jobs.
During the meeting, Mr. Mayorga gained insights into the growth projections of these firms and ensured that customs processes are conducted efficiently and without delays. He emphasized the government’s commitment to working collaboratively and ensuring the smooth facilitation of trade for the benefit of all users.
“Continuing our collaborative efforts, we are dedicated to facilitating trade processes, recognizing that our personnel are our most valuable resource. At American Park, we have engaged with our team, crucial in facilitating customs processes,” stated Mayorga.
Simultaneously, the government official visited Orion Industrial Park on the same day, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the developmental initiatives taking place in the complex, which stands as the country’s first eco-industrial park.
“The visit is part of our coordinated efforts with various institutions to strengthen the National Trade Facilitation Strategy. We are leveraging different technological tools that save time and resources for businesses,” commented the Customs Director during the visit.
The Salvadoran government’s proactive approach and commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment underscore the nation’s dedication to economic growth and development. Through ongoing collaborations and technological innovations, El Salvador is set to enhance its trade facilitation strategy, promoting efficiency, competitiveness, and attracting further investments.
