Santiago Acosta, the owner of Pura Vida company, is currently on a visit to El Salvador with the aim of exploring and purchasing local handmade crafts for resale in the Netherlands. The entrepreneur’s visit was made possible through the efforts of the Salvadoran Embassy in the Netherlands.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with the National Commission for Micro and Small Enterprises (Conamype), organized a trade exhibition featuring 11 local entrepreneurs. These artisans showcased a diverse array of handmade products, including clothing and accessories, bags and wallets, jewelry, footwear, fabrics and textiles, as well as home decor items.

During the event, Mr. Acosta not only had the opportunity to explore the various offerings but also delved into the stories and production processes behind each creation. The 11 entrepreneurs emphasized their commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly practices without compromising quality or style.
“We are a company that prides itself on promoting Central American art, with a particular focus on Nicaragua. Now, we have set our sights on El Salvador, which has always caught my attention, and even more so now, due to its recent development and improved security,” stated the Dutch-Dominican visitor.
He added, “This visit marks the beginning of exploring new opportunities. While we specialize in ceramics, we are open to other proposals, and here I am particularly fascinated by textiles and the creative processes involved. They fit well within the concepts of Pura Vida.”
Following this visit, the entrepreneur and cultural promoter aims to identify commercial opportunities that facilitate exports to the Netherlands, where his project is based.
Additionally, Acosta will engage with artisans from the Nahuizalco region and surrounding areas in Sonsonate, particularly those specializing in crafts involving jade and clay.
The entrepreneur affirmed his commitment to working closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Conamype. Paul Steiner, the president of Conamype, expressed support for the initiative during an event earlier this week, highlighting the backing of national institutions.
