Nestlé Invests $10 Million in State-of-the-Art Distribution Center in El Salvador.

Nestlé, a multinational company with a 70-year history in El Salvador, announced a historic $10 million investment in its new Distribution Center, marking a significant milestone for both the company and the country. The modern facility, now the fourth-largest in the region, attests to Nestlé’s commitment to the nation and its confidence in the pro-business environment fostered by President Nayib Bukele’s administration.

The newly unveiled Distribution Center, strategically located in the industrial zone of Nejapa, spans over 27,000 square meters. It boasts remarkable features such as extensive storage areas, a control office, refrigerated chambers, manufacturing facilities, recycling zones, and even a dedicated lactation room.

Rodrigo Romera, General Manager of Nestlé El Salvador, expressed his confidence in the country’s transformation, stating, “There is no doubt that Nestlé has faith in El Salvador. We’ve been here for 70 years, and we aim for many more. El Salvador has undergone a significant change, and as a company, we see a real opportunity to build a more prosperous community, which is what Nestlé is striving for.”

The new Distribution Center aims to enhance efficiency in logistics operations, reduce transportation costs for finished products, and contribute to economic growth in the region. Romera highlighted that the strategic positioning of the center enables the distribution of over 17,000 tons of products annually, including iconic brands like Nescafé and Maggi, to more than a hundred clients across the country.

Moreover, with the expansion of operations, Nestlé is creating over 200 direct jobs and a considerable number of indirect employment opportunities. Currently employing over 4,000 collaborators, the company collaborates with over 3,000 suppliers of raw materials, packaging, and indirect materials.

Miguel Kattán, the Secretary of Commerce and Investments, praised these new investments as a testament to a “total and absolute change” in the Bukele government’s approach. He emphasized the dynamic changes witnessed in Nestlé’s operations over the last four years and acknowledged President Bukele’s vision for a transformed El Salvador.

Kattán emphasized that the new governance model not only motivates Salvadoran workers and entrepreneurs but also positions El Salvador as a leader in labor rights, investments, and security. “Today, there is pride in being Salvadoran, something that did not exist before, and this generates a complete change, thanks to the vision of a government that truly cares about the people and everyone capable of creating wealth through their investments in companies that have the ability to generate dignified employment with intrinsic value, as is happening with Nestlé,” he added.

Nestlé’s substantial investment is a testament to the positive business climate in El Salvador, signaling a promising future for both the company and the nation.
