In a recent interview on the morning show “Diana Verónica & Tony,” Silvia Cuéllar, the president of the Corporation of Exporters of El Salvador (Coexport), unveiled optimistic projections for the country’s export performance in 2023. According to Cuéllar, the total balance of exports, encompassing both goods and services, is anticipated to reach a remarkable $11 billion.
“I expect that in 2023, we will surpass $4 billion in service exports. When you add the $6.5 or $6.6 billion in goods exports, we will reach over $10 billion, nearly hitting the $11 billion mark. We are on an upward trajectory,” remarked Cuéllar during the interview.

The president emphasized that the anticipated surge in service exports is largely attributed to a $1 billion increase compared to 2022. This impressive growth is primarily driven by a significant uptick in international tourism experienced by the nation throughout the year, bolstering services related to this sector.
“When it comes to services, including call centers, information technology, tourism, and consulting, the previous year saw us hovering around $3 billion. This year, in 2023, we are set to climb to almost $4 billion. Tourism has proven to be an incredible asset, and we are also witnessing the emergence of new call centers,” Cuéllar explained.
El Salvador’s proactive approach to diversifying its export portfolio, especially in the burgeoning service industry, is evidently paying off. With the positive momentum from the tourism sector and the expansion of call centers, the country is poised to achieve record-breaking export figures in the coming year, further solidifying its position on the global economic stage.
