Security Measures Propel El Salvador’s Economic Boom, says Crime Stoppers Regional Director.

In a recent interview, Alejo Campos, the Regional Director of Crime Stoppers for the Caribbean, Bermuda, and Latin America, lauded the security strategies implemented by the Government of El Salvador, attributing a surge in international investment to these measures. Campos emphasized that the significant investment in the country is a direct result of the security initiatives, which have not only created job opportunities but also fostered development in local communities.

During a televised interview, Campos highlighted the necessity of a distinct policy when dealing with a parallel state that controls territorial aspects. He stated, “When you have a parallel state that controls territorial aspects, you obviously need a different policy to achieve concrete results. Subsequent phases will involve reintegration and prevention. Currently, there is substantial investment taking place in El Salvador.”

Campos underscored that the increased investment is a byproduct of enhanced security, leading to job creation, community development, and the reclamation of abandoned homes. He noted, “People are returning – those who had migrated to the United States are coming back. Families who left their homes years ago due to insecurity are reclaiming their properties.”

Furthermore, Campos revealed an interesting trend, stating, “In the United States, you now have fourth generations, and these fourth generations’ grandparents are providing them with funds to invest in El Salvador, primarily in the tourism sector. This shift in criminal persecution policy has driven this positive change.”

Responding to a question about the situation in Ecuador, Campos drew comparisons, pointing out the contrast between El Salvador’s success and the recent violence in Ecuador following the escape of a narcotics leader. He highlighted El Salvador’s effective strategies, indicating that the country has not only curbed violence but has also become an attractive destination for international investments.

El Salvador’s success story is increasingly gaining attention globally as the nation transforms, not just in terms of security, but also economically, with investments pouring in and communities witnessing a revival. The shift in policy towards criminal persecution is evidently playing a pivotal role in shaping El Salvador’s brighter future.
